HOUSTON, Texas – October 3rd, 2006 – Memorial Hermann Healthcare, the largest hospital system in America’s third ranked metro area, today announced that Planon software will help manage nearly 20 million square feet of hospitals and office buildings around the Houston-metro area.
Memorial Hermann Healthcare Systems has been growing at a rapid pace, and its recent expansion program is set to culminate next year as they celebrate their 100th anniversary. Once complete, the $600 million Century Project will see the Healthcare Company’s medical and office space increase by another 2.5 million square feet.
The maintenance, space planning and facility management requirements of the new development sparked the search for an integrated workplace management solution that could bring all groups together. Through organic growth and acquisition, MHHS has grown into an organization of more than 17,000 employees located across 14 different hospitals.
Planon software modules for Space Management and Maintenance Management will be used across the corporate intranet in order to unite all worker groups and leverage shared information. The flexible Planon system supports the diverse requirements of the Facility Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Construction Management user groups that required an integrated solution.
The flexibility of Planon allows users to adapt the software interface to suit individual workflow and information requirements. The user-friendly applications make system configuration and integration simple and intuitive – from tie-ins with active directories for HR and cost center data to mobile test devices used for sensitive medical equipment.
The modular nature of Planon makes it possible to implement new functionality on a step-by-step basis, including the planned future implementation of Planon Mobile, a software platform to process work orders over handheld devices.
The 24/7 self-service portal offered to workers on the corporate intranet will offer continuous time and cost savings. The business intelligence reports and analytics generated by the system will enable strategic planning and combined purchase savings for the future.
Out of the more than 1,300 existing Planon customers, 120 healthcare facilities in Europe already use Planon software. The Memorial Hermann project represents the IWMS software company’s first foray into the US healthcare market.
